A dryer that runs but will not heat, squeals, or takes two cycles to dry a load is one of the most common calls we get in Vancouver, Camas, Battle Ground and the rest of Clark County. This guide explains how Pacific Appliance Solutions prices dryer repair, what the common repairs cost, and when a repair stops making sense.
How dryer repair is priced
- $100 diagnostic fee, waived when you approve the repair. It covers the visit, the fault-finding and the quote.
- Flat-rate quote before any work. The price covers parts and labor and does not change if the job takes longer.
- 90-day parts-and-labor warranty on every repair.
- Common dryer parts (heating elements, thermal fuses, belts, rollers, igniters) are stocked on the van, so most repairs are finished in one visit.
What common dryer repairs cost
These are the flat-rate ranges we quote for standard residential dryers (parts and labor, after the diagnostic is waived). High-end and heat-pump models sit at the top of each range or above it.
| Repair | Typical symptom | Flat-rate range |
|---|---|---|
| Heating element (electric) | Runs, no heat | $185–$310 |
| Igniter or flame sensor (gas) | Runs, no heat, clicks | $190–$320 |
| Thermal fuse + diagnostic | Dead after overheating | $150–$230 |
| Drive belt | Motor hums, drum does not turn | $145–$240 |
| Drum rollers and idler pulley | Squeal or thump while turning | $200–$340 |
| Moisture sensor | Stops early, clothes still damp | $180–$280 |
| Full vent line cleaning | Long cycles, hot cabinet | $120–$220 |

What moves the price up or down
- Gas vs. electric. Gas dryers have an igniter, flame sensor and gas valve coils instead of a heating element; the parts cost about the same, but gas work is always a technician job.
- Brand and age. Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE and Maytag parts are stocked and inexpensive. Speed Queen, Bosch and Miele parts cost more and may need to be ordered.
- Stacked or closet installs. Pulling a stacked unit or a dryer out of a tight closet adds labor.
- The vent. A blocked vent is behind a large share of “no heat” calls because the thermal fuse trips. Cleaning the vent at the same visit prevents the repeat call.
Repair or replace?
Our rule of thumb: if the dryer is less than about ten years old and the repair is well under half the price of a comparable new unit, repair it. A heating element or belt on an eight-year-old Whirlpool is an easy yes. A failed control board on a fifteen-year-old dryer, or a motor plus rollers plus belt on the same visit, is where we will tell you to put the money toward a new machine instead.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a trip charge in Vancouver or Camas?
No separate trip charge. The $100 diagnostic covers the visit and is waived when you approve the repair.
How long does a dryer repair take?
Most heating-element, fuse, belt and roller jobs are done in under an hour on the first visit because the parts are on the van. Ordered parts are usually installed within a few days.
Do you repair Samsung and LG dryers?
Yes. They are two of the most common brands in Clark County homes and our technicians carry their heating elements, sensors and belts.
Is a vent cleaning worth it?
If cycles are getting longer every month or the top of the dryer gets hot, yes. A full vent cleaning is $120–$220, cuts drying time and removes the most common cause of dryer fires.
